The SOS Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) published today shows a 20% drop in the amount of carbon produced by the company in the year ending 31 July 2026 compared with the previous year, and a 2.64% reduction from the 2023/24 baseline.
As part of its commitment to achieve net zero status by 2050, SOS has partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to help measure its carbon impacts over time, as recorded in the CRP.
Using Carbon Neutral Britain’s emission data collection tool to capture metrics such as fleet mileage, staff commuting and waste generated, our carbon impact for the year to August 2026 was 54.54 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e), down from 68.25.
“We are encouraged by the latest analysis as detailed in the report, which shows we are moving in the right direction in our efforts to achieve net zero by 2050”, said Managing Director, Omer Atuf.
“We acknowledge there is a long way to go, but gaining ISO 14001 for the first time earlier this year has given us a greater focus in this regard, and we are helping clients achieve their own environmental goals as well through the installation of electricity infrastructure as a gateway to greener energy, for example the 16 substations we are currently installing for an emergency services client”.
SOS has offset its carbon footprint by contributing towards Carbon Neutral Britain’s Woodland Fund on a per tCO2e basis. The Woodland Fund supports reforestation projects in developing regions globally as well as in the UK to encourage wildlife and ecology, plus restoration of British wildflower meadows through planting programmes and similarly of coastal sea grass meadows.
